Final Declaration of the 29th International Seminar:
Problems of the Revolution in Latin America

Changes in International Geopolitics

We live in a convulsed world, in which the contradictions among imperialist countries are sharpening and their aggressiveness against the oppressed nations and peoples is also growing as are the dangers of world war, which put at risk the very existence of humanity, already affected by the environmental crisis caused by imperialist capitalism. But at the same time, it is a time in which the struggle of the workers, youths and peoples against the bearers of reactionary violence, the promoters of war, those who cause the painful conditions in which our peoples are living, is increasing.

Trapped by its own contradictions, US imperialism is losing ground in its situation as a hegemonic power, which has characterized it since the 1980s. This circumstance has exacerbated its aggressiveness, today visible in the white supremacist, racist and xenophobic policy of the government of Donald Trump, as well as in the offensive undertaken to preserve the interests of the US monopolies, which takes the form of a trade war with the imposition of tariffs, also as a means of interference in other countries.

China, which has become a great imperialist power, today is contesting world hegemony, and has managed to incorporate into its project countries that, without totally distancing themselves from Yankee imperialism, are taking advantage of the contradictions for their own benefit.

The great powers are militarizing their economies, deepening the arms race, promoting and financing localized armed conflicts, establishing military bases in various countries. US imperialism and its allies are strengthening NATO as part of their war preparations.

We are also witnessing a period of rise of right-wing, ultra-conservative, fascist and pro-fascist currents and political forces, which are attacking the democratic rights of the workers, youths, women and peoples, as part of their reactionary program aimed at guaranteeing the interests of the monopolies they represent and sustaining the permanence of the current capitalist system.

But it is not only dark clouds that are dominating the current scenario. The peoples are resisting and fighting! Now more than before.

Massive mobilizations are sweeping the five continents. Facing the drums of war, cries of peace are rising loudly. The Palestinian people, victims of genocide, are fighting heroically and count on the solidarity of millions of men and women throughout the world, who at the same time condemn Israeli Zionism and the war machines that sustain the oppression. Today, the struggle against war and for peace is an anti-imperialist and revolutionary banner.

All over the world, the workers and peoples are fighting for their demands and rights, they are confronting government policies that affect the popular interests and act in the service of big capital.

Our social and political organizations that are fighting the injustices created by the world of capital are aware that it is necessary to overcome the current situation in a revolutionary way, relying on all forms of struggle that are necessary.

We know that the basis for the success of our project lies in the unity of the workers, peasants, youths, women, native peoples, artists and democratic intellectuals, from all exploited and oppressed sectors.

Those of us who have signed this Declaration commit ourselves to work for the unity of the social and political forces that struggle to transform the world. We are committed to a unity that raises high the banners of anti-imperialism, of the defense of the democratic rights of workers, women, youths, children and the peoples. A unity that defends the sovereignty of dependent countries and supports the independence and self-determination of colonial countries, that upholds the principles of solidarity among the peoples, that defends nature and that acts with political independence against all imperialist powers and against the owners of big capital.

This unity must become the force that leads the peoples to their emancipation, to the victory of the revolution and socialism.

The International Seminar: Problems of the Revolution in Latin America reaffirms the conviction that it is possible to put an end to the barbarity of the capitalist-imperialist system if we consolidate our forces, our organization and deepen our struggle for the emancipation of society.
