Further Materials on the Correspondence of Ajoy Ghosh, CPI,
with the CPSU(B), 1952

Introduction

In the last issue of this journal we published some exchanges between Ajoy Ghosh, General Secretary of the CPI and the CPSU (B). They elucidated the positions of the latter on questions relating to the Quit India Movement and the role of Subhas Bose in the anti-fascist war amongst other problems. Subsequently we have received from the former central party archives related materials which further inform  us on the relations of the two parties.  The new materials relate to the disciplinary measures taken against the Ranadive group by the CPI and the impact of the CPI successes in the general elections and its impact on Nehru and the different sections of the Congress Party. The absence of the direct intervention of Stalin suggests that these materials have yet to be opened up in the party archives.
