Telegrams to Mr. Churchill and Mr. Roosevelt on the North African Victories
May 7, 1943
On the night of May 7-8, J. V. Stalin, as Chairman of the Council of
People’s Commissars of the U.S.S.R., sent the following telegrams to the
Prime Minister of Great Britain, Mr. Winston Churchill, and the
President of the United States, Mr. Franklin D. Roosevelt:
To Mr. Winston Churchill,
I congratulate you and the valiant British and American troops on the
brilliant victory which has resulted in the liberation of Bizerta and
Tunis from Hitler’s tyranny. I wish you further successes.
To President Roosevelt,
I congratulate you and the valiant American and British troops on the
brilliant victory which has resulted in the liberation of Bizerta and
Tunis from Hitler’s tyranny. I wish you further successes.
