Peace in Korea and more
July 15, 1950
[Reply to Prime Minister of India, Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru, in connection with his proposals for seating the
representatives of the People’s Government of China on the Security
Council of the U.N. and the “cessation of the conflict” in Korea, July
15, 1950]
I welcome your peaceable initiative. I fully share your point of view
as regards the expediency of peaceful regulation of the Korean question
through the Security Council with the obligatory participation of
representatives of the five great Powers, including the People’s
Government of China. I believe that for speedy settlement of the Korean
question it would be expedient to hear in the Security Council
representatives of the Korean people.
