The Coordinating Committee of the International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organisations (ICMLPO) expresses its sorrow at the death of Comandante Hugo Chavez Frias, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
It expresses its solidarity with the working class and people, with the government of the Bolivarian Republic, with the revolutionaries and communists who are fighting valiantly for social and national liberation in Venezuela.
The revolutionary process taking place in Venezuela involves millions of human beings, workers and youth, it is fulfilling the task of democratising society, of providing the impoverished sectors with access to health care, education and social security; it is confronting the opposition of reaction and the oligarchy and has raised up the working masses and youth to defend the process.
The government of Venezuela, with Hugo Chavez at the head, has been developing an important policy of integration in Latin America, including the various countries of the region and particularly those that joined ALBA. This process is trying to create an independent development and faces the open opposition of U.S. imperialism that refuses to lose its traditional domination.
For these reasons, Comandante Chavez has earned a place among the social fighters and revolutionaries, among the workers and peoples of Latin America and other continents; he stands out as a fighter, a decisive patriot, a consistent anti-imperialist. His death is a great loss for the struggle against tyranny and the inevitable but tough and difficult process of the liberation of the peoples. However, that painful blow will not stop the struggle; on the contrary, we are convinced that the Venezuelan working class, people and youth will continue fighting, they will know how to distinguish their true friends from open and concealed enemies, and they will advance resolutely in the struggle for liberation, along the path of the revolution and towards socialism. With the proletarian revolutionaries at the head, they will bury capitalism and imperialism, as will the other peoples of Latin America and the world.
The Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organisations members of ICMLPO renew their commitment to the international revolution of the proletariat, to proletarian internationalism; they reaffirm their conviction that the members of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Venezuela and the true revolutionary forces of the country will continue the fight to lead the revolution and socialism to victory,
